In this edition of Sam Gale's football stories we spoke Fleetlands FC and one of the Hampshire premier league manager's Rich Beesey about all aspects around the club. This is what he had to say...

Q: Let’s start at the very beginning, what made you want to join Fleetlands FC?

A: I have always had my eye on fleetlands and to be fair heard a lot about what was going on behind the scenes. I was always aware of the support they have as a club and for me I wanted to be a part of that.

Q: What is your relationship like with Iain Sellstrom, previously with Gosport Borough? A man that is very passionate about his football!

A: I would say my relationship with Iain is superb actually the best I’ve had with a chairman we even had a romantic date! He is a top man who deserves the very best and I hope I can be the one who brings that to him. He isn’t however the only one I wanna mention as with Paul Allen our Kitman he has been here through good and bad and is a real good gem we wouldn’t be here without him.

Q: For the people that have not kept tabs on Fleetlands this season, how are you getting on in the Hampshire premier league?

A: We currently are third in the league and still in two cups we’ve had some fantastic results and others not so. We are flying as a team good spirit and great people as mentioned. The only way is forward and upwards.

Q: What players could fans keep their eye on?

A: For me we have big names that usually get the mention however Sean dark deserves a mention as he has gone from a striker to a left back under me and he has performed superbly and is one of the first names on the team sheet. Sam Martin has been a credit to the club and performs week in week out and young Jack North has been fantastic coming in and out the side and now being a regular playing with lads much more experienced he has however come from a very respected well known football family so football is all he will know. But as mentioned before my squad is superb and I am happy with them all just these names maybe don’t get the recognition they deserve.

Q: What are your aspirations heading forward for the club?

A: We want to get into Wessex league the sooner the better we wish to develop our ground and really are calling our local businesses and the council to support our growth as we believe we can encourage young people of Gosport to get involved in grass roots football and also bring the community together alongside sponsorship and branding opportunities for businesses.

Q: How does Richard Bessey wanted to be remembered by off and on the pitch?

A: Rich Bessey would like to be remembered and known to be a competitive hard working person who is very animated on the side lines but buys in club ethos or so I keep telling myself!

Thank you for Rich giving us insight into Fleetlands FC and good luck for the rest of the season!
